Question: Where do LCYBS teams play home games?
Answer: LCYBS play home games on several fields in and around the Hartland area. LCYBS does not own the fields we play on - they are either rented from the Village of Hartland or lent to LCYBS by area schools. It is up to LCYBS players, coaches and parents to keep the fields clean and free of any bottles, wrappers and other garbage associated with our team activities.
Question: How does LCYBS prepare fields for practices and games?
Answer: LCYBS provides a complete practice and game schedule to both the Village of Hartland and a local independent contractor. Generally practices are dragged on an as-needed bases without lines. Games are dragged and lined.
Village of Hartland fields are maintained exclusively by the Village, including weed control, grass cutting, dragging of the infield and putting down chalk lines.
School fields are prepared by an independent local contractor including dragging of the infield and putting down chalk lines.
Question: What is the process for PRACTICE cancellations on LCYBS fields?
Answer: For fields maintained by the Village of Hartland - An operations supervisor will contact the LCYBS VP of Operations by 3:00pm CT when their fields are closed. The LCYBS VP of Operations will then notify commissioners & coaches who will then notify their team families. If no contact is made by 3:00pm CT the presumption is the fields are open and it is at our discretion to cancel practices.
For fields prepared by our independent local contractor - Operation supervisors do not visit fields on practice-only days as fields are not prepared for practices. Therefore it will generally but up to the coaches whether or not to have the practice or cancel it all together. In either case to notify their team families.
In some cases, even with an infield that is wet and unplayable, a practice may still be held in the outfield grass area. This will allow the practice to still take place without being cancelled all together. This determination is left up to the coaches and up to them to let their team families know.
Question: What is the process for GAME cancellations on LCYBS fields?
Answer: Fields maintained by the Village of Hartland - An operations supervisor will contact the LCYBS VP of Operations by 3:00pm CT when their fields are closed. The LCYBS VP of Operations will then notify commissioners & coaches who will then notify their team families. If no contact is made by 3:00pm CT the presumption is the fields are open and they will have the fields with games prepared and ready to go.
Fields prepared by our independent local contractor - An operations supervisor visits each field on game day to prepare the field. They will contact the LCYBS VP of Operations directly if they feel the field isn't playable. The LCYBS VP of Operations will then notify commissioners & coaches who will then notify their team families.
